This paper selects three translated versions of "Silence—A Fable" respectively by Chou Tso-jen, Deng Yingjie and Cao Minglun. Based on Lefevere’s refraction theory and Venuti’s notion of cultural identities, the study attempts to investigate how Poe’s cultural images have been reconstructed and to figure out what kind of "spokesperson" the concerned translators might act for Poe and their times.
