BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Previous studies of patients treated for a transient ischemic attack (TIA) or a minor stroke have demonstrated an increased risk of stroke within the first year. Data extending beyond one year are quite limited. This study reports on the five-year follow-up of patients treated by stroke specialists for a TIA or minor stroke.
