摘要
The aim of this article is to study the episcopal entry into Puebla de los Angeles, between 1640 and 1774, to contribute to the study of the festivals linked to the bishop in New Spain and the Indies. Through the consultation of the historical archives of the ecclesiastical and secular chapters of the city, it is argued that during the 17(th) and 18(th) centuries, the episcopal entry into Puebla highlighted the city's importance as a premier Christian sphere. Consequently, it functioned as a public ritual that exalted the figure of the bishop as the head of the Christian civitas and simultaneously represented the city as a privileged area of Christianity in the New World.
