摘要
Remezcla introduces computer programming to Hispanic students through an informal and culturally relevant curriculum. This report highlights the trials and achievements of implementing the Remezcla curriculum through summer camps and after-schools in a predominantly Hispanic-Spanish speaking community. We contrast the two types of interventions in terms of student recruitment and retention. Based on our efforts to make participation more equitable and inclusive, we conjecture about our failures and successes. In essence, the curriculum is just one cog in the complex mechanism of computer science teaching and learning processes in predominantly Hispanic-Spanish speaking school contexts.
