摘要
In this paper, a novel thermochromic bistable display device was designed based on the planar and focal conic texture characteristics of cholesteric liquid crystal maintained without electric field and the reversible discoloration of thermochromic materials with temperature changes, enriching the functions of traditional bistable displays. The feasibility of the novel thermochromic bistable display was verified by analysing and comparing the measured chromaticity coordinates and spectral curves. The contrast and other properties of this device were also studied. The device exhibits a good visual effect whether it is in the same display state at different temperatures, or in the different display states at same temperature. Therefore, it can be used in price tags, signs, industrial equipment, and other prompt scenarios to make up for the dullness of traditional monochrome bistable liquid crystal display.
