摘要
Background Visually impaired people rely on optimal lighting to maximize their visual perception; however, traditional light sources and screens often do not provide the necessary adjustment options. With the advent of new screen technologies, especially virtual reality (VR) glasses, new opportunities for individual adjustment of lighting to the needs of visually impaired patients are potentially opening up. Methods This study investigated the lighting requirements of visually impaired patients when using different screen technologies. This included comparisons between natural and artificial light sources, conventional screens and VR glasses. The analysis included a literature review on the necessary illumination compared to the other technologies used in visually impaired patients. Results The results show that VR glasses can meet the specific lighting needs of visually impaired patients better than conventional screens due to their ability to individually adjust brightness and contrast. In particular, the ability to block out disturbing ambient lighting and simulate optimal lighting conditions led to a significant improvement in visual perception and visual comfort. Conclusion The use of modern screen technologies, especially VR glasses, can significantly improve the lighting situation for visually impaired patients. Due to the individual adaptability of the lighting conditions, they offer great potential to improve the quality of life and independence of this patient group. Further research is required to evaluate the long-term effects and optimal applications of these technologies.
