'A Tinners' Rabbits Tale' is a contemporary folktale, which draws upon Cornish traditions of storytelling. The story grew from a clinical encounter and draws upon the mysterious and archaic symbol of the 'Tinners' Rabbits' - three rabbits (or hares) forming a circle by connection at the ear. The reflective commentary which accompanies it explores the development of the story from a therapeutic encounter and describes how it became a vehicle for the uncovering of unconscious feeling in the therapist and dynamics within the relationship, facilitating development within the clinical encounter itself. The story and reflective commentary explore the working of boundaries between self and other, reality and fantasy, with particular attention to the idea of metamorphosis and how change can be both provoked and inspired. Story, story-making and storytelling are considered, alongside the importance of inspiration, provocation, and impact.
