摘要
In Latin American countries, including Mexico, the family is usually the main source of support when a member requires it, and within this, women are the main caregivers. This article aims to analyze the economic costs of care and the implications for informal caregivers of older adults and people who require care in three cities in Mexico. The data source used is the 2017 Survey on the Cost of Care for Vulnerable Persons (ECCPeV). Among the main results is that the main cause of limitation in the group of people under 60 years of age is associated with some cognitive disability; while, in older people, it is due to the presence of diabetes and hypertension. The expenses they make the most for the care of people with limitations are medical consultations, medication and transportation. Finally, women are not likely to be burdened by caring for their family members.
