Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) mahuto sp. nov. from the Republic of South Africa, belonging to the A. (H.) thunbergi Laporte & Gory, 1839 species-group, is described. Main diagnostic characters ofA. (H.) mahuto sp. nov. and closely relatedA. (H.) nigroaenea B & iacute;l & yacute; & Sakalian, 2014 are illustrated. Anthaxia (H.) thunbergi Laporte & Gory, 1839 species-group is re-arranged, newly including A. (H.) thunbergi and all species previously classified inA. (H.) mashuna Obenberger, 1931 species-group. New hosts plants are listed forA. (H.) thunbergi.
