摘要
The objective of this study is to investigate the synthesis of surfactants derived from ethanolamine and oleic acid, alongside analyzing the colloidal-chemical characteristics of the resultant products, including electrical conductivity, surface tension, solubility, hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, maximum adsorption, free energy of adsorption and micellization. Ethanolamine sourced from oil refinery byproducts was recycled for use in the synthesis process. A catalyst was employed to expedite the reaction kinetics, with NaOH selected as the catalyst at a concentration of 0.1% of the reaction mixture. This catalyst facilitated the initiation and acceleration of the reaction. Various analytical techniques including IR spectroscopy, conductometric analysis, stalagmometric method were utilized to characterize the final products. The investigation revealed that the synthesized substance reduced the surface tension of water at its critical micelle concentration to 29.9 mN/m. Optimal reaction conditions were identified as a molar ratio of 1:1, a reaction time of 3 h, and a reaction temperature of 120 degrees C, resulting in high product yield. Furthermore, employing two distinct techniques confirmed the critical micelle concentration concentration at 0.08%, indicating the nonionic nature of the surfactant. The adsorption characteristics of the surfactant, along with its thermodynamic aspects, were investigated by analyzing concentration-dependent surface tension and electrical conductivity graphs
