Heterometallic trinuclear complexes of {η1-(Me3tacn)MoO3}2M(III) (M = Y, La, Sm, Eu, Nd, Yb) with rare earth metals based on the (Me3tacn) MoO3 metalloligand

Treatment of the metalloligand (Me3tacn)MoO3 (1) with rare earth metal nitrates afforded four neutral heterometallic trinuclear Lewis acid-base adducts of {eta 1-(Me3tacn)MoO3}2M(eta 2-NO3)3(H2O)x (Me3tacn = 1,4,7-trimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane, 2: M = Y, x = 1; 3: M = La, x = 2; 4: M = Sm, x = 1; 5: M = Eu, x = 1). While reactions of the metalloligand 1 and rare earth metal oxides with the assistance of nitric acid gave three La; 8: M = Yb) and (H3O)[{eta 1-(Me3tacn)MoO3}2Nd(eta 2-NO3)4]center dot 0.5HNO3 (7). The molecular structures of the heterometallic complexes 2-8 were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, as well as powder X-ray diffractions (PXRD), showing the good ligating property of the [(Me3tacn)MoO3] metalloligand. Moreover, the complexes 2-8 were characterized by infrared, fluorescence and UV-vis spectroscopies. The stability of complexes 2-8 at different temperatures was analyzed by thermogravimetry.
