摘要
Pavement surface condition assessment is crucial in ensuring the safety, durability, and efficiency of transportation infrastructure. This paper comprehensively reviews the current state-of-the-art research in pavement surface condition assessment techniques and methodologies. Various methods for assessing pavement conditions, including visual inspection, non-destructive testing, and advanced sensing technologies, are discussed. The advantages and limitations of each method are analyzed, along with their applicability. Additionally, this paper offers insights into the future directions of pavement surface condition assessment research, including integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and remote sensing. The potential benefits of these advancements in improved accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness are highlighted, along with the challenges and opportunities associated with their implementation. Overall, this review aims to provide researchers, practitioners, and policymakers with a comprehensive understanding of the current state-of-the-art pavement surface condition assessment and guide future research efforts in this important field.
