A new alkaloid, 2-dodecyl-3-hydroxy-4-quinolone (1), along with five flavonoids, 5,8-dihydroxy-7,3 ',4 '-trimethoxyflavone (2), 5,8-dihydroxy-7,4 '-dimethoxyflavone (3), 5,8-dihydroxy-7,2 ',3 ',5 '-tetramethoxyflavone (4), 5-hydroxy-7,2 ',3 ',5 '-tetramethoxyflavone (5), and 5-hydroxy-7,2 ',3 ',4 ',5 ',6 '-hexamethoxyflavanone (6), were isolated from the corn silk. The structure of the new alkaloid was elucidated by chemical and physical evidence.
