摘要
This study constructed a 3D geological model of the Early Cretaceous Yamama carbonate reservoir in the Rafidain Oil Field, utilizing Petrel software to process and interpret a comprehensive dataset comprising borehole well logs, geological data, and core samples. The primary objective was to characterize the petrophysical properties of the Yamama Formation, evaluate the economic viability of hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir units, and understand fluid flow dynamics within the reservoir. The modeling process delineated six reservoir units (Y-1 to Y-6) within the Yamama Formation, separated by five impermeable barrier beds. The 3D geological model revealed spatial variations in effective porosity and water saturation. The RY-1 unit appears to be the most prospective reservoir, characterized by a favorable combination of effective porosity (18%) and low water saturation (15%). In contrast, the other units exhibited higher water saturation, limiting their reservoir potential. The insights gained from this 3D geological model will aid in optimizing drilling locations, estimating recoverable reserves, and ultimately enhancing the field's development and production strategies.
