Cracking is one of the most important distresses that occur in asphalt pavements, but it is also a complex phenomenon little studied in Mexican asphalt industry. Asphalt binder is a viscoelastic material that plays a key role in cracking resistance and the current parameter G*sen 6 has been widely reported as inadequate and ineffective to characterize asphalt binder performance, especially when modified asphalts are utilized. Therefore, in this research, frequency, strain and temperature sweeps were performed using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) as well as creep stiffness tests using the Beam Bending Rheometer (BBR) on different asphalts samples with the aim of finding a rheological parameter that allows us to discern more accurately the cracking potential of asphalts binders modified with elastomers, plastomers, additives, hardened with polyphosphoric acid and combination of different rheological modifiers. © 2024 Asociacion Espanola de la Carretera.
