This paper aims to clarify the existence of a segment of the population in the central metropolitan area that is limited in their residential area due to work-related reasons. Surveys to residents living in the 5th district of the Tokyo metropolitan area have revealed the following: (1) about 20% of residents in the 5th district of the Tokyo metropolitan area are limited in their residential area due to work-related reasons, (2) about 30% don’t work from home, about 50% of them can’t work from home. © 2024 Architectural Institute of Japan.
