摘要
The reconstruction of cities in Ukraine destroyed or damaged by war is urgent, and essential for restoring ordinary life and stability. The Warsaw Reconstruction Plan, successfully implemented after the Second World War, can provide valuable experience and recommendations for the effective restoration of infrastructure, residential buildings, cultural facilities, social services and–crucially–a city’s identity. We assess the relevance of its principles, methods, and practices to current conditions, considering economic, environmental and social aspects, and practices of other countries. Ukraine will need international cooperation to attract finance and devise innovative solutions for reconstruction; the key elements being transparent management, public participation, international cooperation and other people’s experiences of urban regeneration. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
