Production of ceramic building materials in Russia from anthracite tailings

In recent years the conclusion has been reached that the limited raw material supplies have to be made use of both more effectively and without pollution in order to spare resources. In the ceramics industry and in energy production it will be necessary to fall back on continuously poorer quality raw materials resp. energy forms in the future and to try to make up for this deficit through technological solutions. One possible method is to produce ceramic building materials with a high proportion of the body originating from anthracite tailings. Here they can substitute for a large part of the natural gas and petroleum energy forms otherwise used. The paper shows ways of producing ceramic building materials from anthracite tailings with a high carbon content, allowing the excess energy to be used for other purposes.
