Ricardo Consulting Engineers are retained by major engine and vehicle manufacturers worldwide to design and develop internal combustion engines. The paper describes how they utilize their McAuto computer aided design (CAD) system at all the stages of design and analysis, particularly through the exploitation of parametric design programs. Considerable benefits are being achieved from the closer integration of design and analysis.
