摘要
Extensive seismic and six exploration wells in the Great South Basin, off South Island, New Zealand, have proved the existence of 18,000 ft (5,486 m) of sedimentary section, significant structures, over 3,000 ft (914 m) of Late Cretaceous-Paleocene source shales, and good Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs interbedded with shale. One of the most favorable shallow water locations to explore for oil in the Great South Basin is that region which is in the path of oil migration between the subbasin with oil generating potential and the seeps on Stewart Island.
