摘要
It is well known that trace elements can segregate to grain boundaries in ferritic steels and cause embrittlement. This is manifested by low fracture toughness values, high ductile-brittle transition temperatures and low Charpy upper-shelf energies. This paper demonstrates how recent developments in the fracture mechanics field are able to provide a model for this type of embrittlement.
