摘要
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the energy and thermal comfort advantages of shading the windows of buildings such as those with precast concrete shades. A computer energy case study of an air conditioned building is presented. Nomograms for estimating the reduction in solar loads resulting from changing combinations of window area and projections of sunscreens are presented. The shading of windows offers a viable alternative to using special glass types in reducing air conditioning loads.
