Treatment of radioactive slurry and storage of concentrated waste

A boiling water reactor station is used to describe a technical concept for handling concentrated radioactive waste from its origin in the water clean-up systems to the final storage ground in a safe and economic way using methods which are in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations for transport and final storage. The way in which the slurry is solidified and filled into drums is explained. One-way concrete containers or transfer casks are used for shielding during transport and handling at the final storage ground. Leaching out is prevented by the use of concrete containers or by embedding the drums into binding material within the storage cavern.
