The controlled potential corrosion (CPC) tests were unique in constructing controlled potential-preferential corrosion diagrams of microstructures present in a multi-phase alloy. The corrosion behaviors of various microstructures were potential dependent and their potential/corrosion diagrams were almost parallel to the conventional characteristic anodic polarization curve of the alloy. The selective dissolution of ferrite phase occurred at more active potentials than austenite, and both phases showed anodic dissolution peaks.
