The correctness of color reproduction by transparencies is determined by visual (subjective) qualification. A suitable objective qualification method is described which uses the MOMCOLOR tristimulus colorimeter which measures the tristimulus values X, Y, Z of transparencies with repeatability in transmitted light. Color uniformity of products can be characterized by the average color differences derived from the MacAdam ellipses characterizing the scatter of color coordinates and from the average DELTA Y values or from the average color differences expressed in FMC-2 units.
