Mobile robots are very useful in replacing a man in dangerous environments (e.g. land mine fields). Development of a walking mine clearing mobile robot is one of the main research tasks of our Department. Design of layered structure of the control system belongs to the results of research. This article describes utilisation of the genetic algorithm for route planning of a mobile robot at the highest (strategic) level.
