Arauco orders two pulp lines for Itata plant

Arauco has selected Kvaerner Pulping to supply two lines for its planned bleached kraft pulp mill in Itata, central Chile. The greenfield facility will have a capacity of almost 860,000 tonnes/yr. The order comprises one hardwood and one softwood pulp line, which will be fed with eucalyptus and pine. The units will both have a capacity of about 430,000 tonnes/yr. Kvaerner Power, Kvaerner Pulping's sister company, is to supply an evaporation plant for the mill along with a recovery boiler.
