Results are presented of an experimental investigation of heat- and mass transfer in the evaporation of a liquid (water) from the surface of capillary porous materials. Polyvinyl formal foam, porous nickel, and porous stainless steel were investigated; the influence of recesses (pockets) was studied on the example of polytetrafluoroethylene. Criterial equations were established and a unique relation was obtained for a number of investigated materials.
