For a newly developed high-tensile steel, the effect of the following elements: carbon, manganese, molybdenum, titanium, nickel, and chromium on hardening, strength, and toughness in the water-quenched and tempered state is investigated. The brittle-fracture behavior and the welded-joint characteristics of the steel were also investigated.
