A study was made of the possibility of electrolytic production of zinc at high current densities in the presence of various surfactants. It was found that at concentrations of nonylphenol polyethylene glycol from 0. 1 to 0. 3 g/liter, dinaphthylmethane-4,4'-disulfonic 4'-disulfonic acid from 0. 1 to 0. 3 g/liter, and polyethylene glycol from 0. 05 to 0. 1 g/liter the electrolysis process can be carried out with good results at current densities of 1000-1200 A/m**2 from electrolytes with an impurity content which is in the normal range for hydrometallurgical production of zinc.
