The mutual and the drive-response synchronization of oscillators producing the Chen attractor are studied numerically. The onset of chaos in a driven Chen oscillator is explored as well. The Chen equations are transformed into the equations of the oscillator with inertial self-excitation. A system of equations is written for an arbitrary number of these oscillators with resistive coupling. It is found that two symmetrically coupled chaotic oscillators may exhibit mutual deterministic synchronization. It is shown that a drive signal may switch the response oscillator between a chaotic and a regular regime. This occurs when a regular signal is applied to the oscillator operating in a chaotic mode and vice versa.
