摘要
In this paper, fundamental study of the effects of layered soil conditions is investigated. It was found that use of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) in soil-structure interaction has the advantage of a boundary discretization only, therefore the BEM is a very efficient way to investigate the effects of layered soil. The Kelvin's solution with a mirror image which is usually used as the approximate Green's function for a homogeneous half-space is accurate enough for practical use. The effects of layered soil conditions become serious in term of the soil-structure interaction, and are fairly important in the aseismic design of buildings.
