摘要：

The importance of a smooth hull to economic performance is beyond dispute, and ships which have developed rough bottoms will benefit significantly from grit blasting. This article discusses the effect hull roughness has on fuel economy of ships, and systems employed for both anti-fouling and polishing hulls. The economics of polishing are discussed.
