摘要
The applications of computer graphics in motion pictures and TV animation are focused upon: special-effects sequences features in science fiction and industrial films are described that are not filmed with elaborate scale models but are synthesized entirely on a computer. Various computer-generated images are shown and three techniques for generating realistic images are described: ray tracing, fractal-surface generation and particle systems. Natural scenes, fractal landscapes, nebulous objects, natural motions and realistic surfaces are discussed. Based on present successes of computerized image synthesis a dramatic increase in the quality and quantity of computer graphics images in future films and television programs is predicted.
