Investigation of Heat and Mass Exchange in a Vertical Staggered Tube Bundle Exposed to Dispersed Gas-Fluid Flow.

Results of an experimental investigation are presented dealing with heat and mass exchange in a tight vertical checker-board tube bundle exposed to dispersed air and water flow. An experimental plant is described consisting of an open-type wind tunnel. It is found that there is an analogy between the processes of heat and mass exchange. The contact surface (mass exchange surface) in the vertical bundles, in conditions of two-phase flow, is not equal to the geometric heating surface. In order to intensify the process of heat removal in the deep rows of the vertical tube bundles, the velocity of the dispersed gas-fluid flow must exceed critical values (with regard to the break of the liquid film).
