The waveform relaxation method is an iterative method of solving a large-scale differential equation, and is used widely in the simulator for a VLSI electronic circuit. This paper discusses convergence of the waveform relaxation method based on the decomposition of the circuit, and presents several sufficient conditions for the numerical procedure to converge locally. Then the block-diagonal dominant property is defined for the block matrix, and some properties of the block-diagonal dominant matrix are indicated. The algorithm in RELAX, which is a typical simulator based on the waveform relaxation method, is discussed.
