A physical model is proposed for the material flow of the solid phase of monodisperse and polydisperse suspensions in the interplate zone of separator purifiers when the initial positions of the particles are not uniformly distributed with respect to the precipitation level. Relationships are obtained which give the quantity of particles of a given class of dimensions in both the precipitate and the discharge and which give the purification coefficient for any disperse system with known distribution parameters. A method for analyzing a multistage separation process is proposed.
