摘要
Ultrasonic velocities in aqueous solutions of metallic iodides belonging to (1. 1) and (2. 1) valence types have been determined at different dilutions and in the temperature range of 35 to 55 C, at every five degrees interval using a varaible path acoustic interferometer. Decrease of velocity V with increase in concentration C has been observed and explained by taking into account the nature of the constant G in the relation V equals V//0 plus GC minus HC**3**/**2. The computations of values of G from the above expression have been made previously by neglecting the term HC**3**/**2. In the present observations it has been found that H has a finite value and hence its contribution to the value of V at any concentration C is noticeable. The nature of variation of V with temperature at any concentration has been shown. The constants G and H have been evaluated at different temperatures. Variation of adiabatic compressibility beta with molar concentration has been discussed for the same set of electrolytes. The Bachem's relation has been analyzed in terms of these data to evaluate A and B, the related constants. Variation of beta with temperature for any particular concentration has been analyzed.
