Disc bowl centrifuges are predominantly used for oil/water/solids separation, with the biggest application being fuel and lubrication oil separation onboard ships. The process performance of these centrifuges continues to improve, in terms of both cost and quality of the resulting streams, as well as the environmental impact of the process. The trend to purchase thoroughly tested and validated centrifuge systems rather than single machines will continue, in line with the present trend of out-sourcing services that are not part of the key competence.
