摘要
Huachuca City in Cochise County, Arizona, solved the problem of extending the life of its present landfill. The plan called for a dramatic reduction in the volume of materials to be landfilled. By fully integrating recycling, composting, and landfilling, the existing landfill's lifespan would be extended by 15 to 20 years. A 15% reduction in volume was achieved through recycling, 50% through shredding, and another 20%-30% reduction is expected thanks to composting.
