Safety in Highway Management Programs.

Safety is incorporated in all major highway projects as of the design phase. The constant modernization of the highway network brings about an improvement in safety. Several aspects of road design may be regarded more particularly oriented towards safety: widening of motorways, intersection grade separations, doubling of roads on right-of-ways provided in advance, provision of overtaking lanes, conversion to express roads, safety works in connection with pavement reconstruction projects; safety aspects of maintenance and equipment on highways.
