Existence of positive bound states of nonlinear Schrodinger equations with saddle-like potential

A degenerate saddle point situation for the potential V is studied. An assumption is made on V based on a global character, and the saddle point theorem of Rabinowitz is suggested. Another assumption is made based on mild behavior at infinity on the potential V. The next assumption provides the Palais-Smale condition which together with (V1) makes the saddle point theorem applicable to predict the existence of a critical point of V. The last assumption requires control on the variation of V over X. The results obtained are presented numerically.
