The authors have investigated the effect of preparation parameters on the formation of the YBa2Cu3O7-x superconducting phase in the Y-Ba-Cu-O system by XRD analysis and TEM observation. The sigle phase can be obtained from samples having the composition of ABO3-y(A=Y+Ba, B=Cu) by proper heat-treatment. Preparation parameters (such as pressing pressure, sintering temperature and time, as well as annealing region and ambience, etc.) have great influence upon the formation of the YBa2Cu3O7-x phase.
