摘要
The present work deals with the chemical reactions which occur during the treatment of xylan with chlorine in aqueous medium. It is based on experiments with xylan isolated from birch meal (Betula verrucosa) by alkaline extraction. The sugar and acid composition of the sample recovered after chlorination was compared with that of the untreated birch xylan.
