SOME MODIFICATIONS TO THE HIGGINS-LEIGHTON METHOD.

The method by Higgins and Leighton of mathematically modelling the waterflood process is restricted to the case where the pressure drop between the injector and producer remains constant, and it treats each channel individually. This method is here modified, first, to permit the treatment of all channels simultaneously, and second, so that it may be applied to the cases where a) pressure drop is constant, b) flow rate is constant, and c) pressure drop and flow rate vary. Comparison of both original and modified method with experimental results indicates that the proposed modifications represent a worthwhile improvement to the original method.
