Classical description of angular-momentum motion due to optical pumping

The equation of angular-momentum motion was derived for a closed two level system by using the Wigner representations of rotational motion. The angular-momentum was dependent on the polarization of light and the type of the optical transition. The angular momentum was directed along or opposite to the wave vector of the radiation in case of a zero magnetic field in the final state. The behavior of the angular-momentum was described on the basis of induced velocities. Quantum uncertainty was used to define final distribution of the angular momentum.
