Chemistry and chemical technology has played a major role in improving the quality of life. Its involvement in new drug discovery doubled our life span during the last century. But, we as chemists and chemical engineers have not educated the public and politicians, what the importance of chemistry and chemical technology has in our day to day life and as a result of which the word 'chemical' is always looked upon as a poison. Further, we frighten the public as if it is the chemists and chemicals that pollute the environment and thereby create hatred towards chemicals in the minds of common people. We should speak out saying that it is chemicals and chemistry that find answers to clean air, safe drinking water and better living conditions. We should remind the slogan the better things for better living through chemistry and that chemists have contributed their best for the betterment of humanity.
