STUDY ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF STABILISER CONTENT USING DIFFERENT MIXING TECHNIQUES IN STABILISED SOIL ROAD CONSTRUCTION.

Various mechanical mixers such as rotavator, disc-harrow and mold-board plough have been used, the world over, for mixing of the stabilizer. It has been stated that one to three passes of the rotavator-type machinery are required for effective mixing depending upon the soil-type and additives used, when in-place mixing is carried out. Batch mixing in machines like concrete mixers has also been recommended for mixing stabilizers like lime and cement when the mixing is to be carried out in dry state. Yet another method of mixing the stabilizer with the soil is by way of pressure injection of the stabilizer in the slurry form.
