The use of lasers in therapeutic and diagnostic instrumentation is discussed. Therapeutic applications considered are retinal photocoagulation, cataract capsulotomy, glaucoma surgery, and corneal reshaping. Diagnostic applications described are measuring visual acuity, speckle refractometry, speckle VEP, measurements in the lens, measuring blood flow, and imaging. Finally, a scanning laser ophthalmoscope is described in detail.
