摘要
The primary objective of this paper is to outline the role which fiber optics can play in minimizing the problems associated with the telecommunication service to electric power stations. This is done by describing the joint field fiber optic cable tests recently completed by General Electric and Pennsylvania Power & Light. However, the nature of wire line telecommunication services for protective relaying for electric power stations is first reviewed to demonstrate the benefit associated with the use of fiber optics.
